Ultimate Frisbee

Before even knowing Ultimate Frisbee existed, apart from having thrown a disc around with friends, I played rugby for seven years. Four years at Hudson High School, a year at Dawson College, and finally for two years at the varsity level at Acadia University.

After several concussions and a broken collar bone I decided I had had enough of the contact sport.

In my final year at Acadia I found myself in search of another extra-curricular activity, in particular, a team-sport as I was really missing the team dynamic. I then found an Ultimate Frisbee club team at Acadia.

After graduating from Acadia I returned to Montreal for the summer and joined the Association de Ultimate de Montréal (AUM).

After a great summer playing Ultimate I was Spain bound and under the impression that Ultimate didn't exist in Spain. Of how wrong I was... Within my first month of living in Madrid I googled 'Ultimate Frisbee Madrid' and instantly came up with the Quijotes + Dulcineas. Attending the pick-up games on Saturdays was soon not enough, I became a member of the club and found myself attending weekly practices and signing up for as many tournaments as I possibly could.

Since joining the Quijotes I've attended the following tournaments:

2013

  • G-Spot, Ghent, Belgium - May 4-5
  • In & Out, Santander, Spain - April 27-28
  • La Abuela, Madrid, Spain - April 13-14
  • Costa Brava, Lloret de Mar, Spain - March 23-25
  • Concentración del Equipo Nacional Española, Calafell, Spain - March 9-10
  • TIBU, Las Palmas, Grand Canary, Spain - February 15-17
  • Liga Catalana, Castelldefels, Barcelona - February 3

2012
2011
  • Mini-CAC, Zaragosa, Spain - October 22-23
  • Pamplona Tourney, Pamplona, Spain - November 4-6
  • Hat/Triangular, Valencia, Spain - November 11-13

Most of the links for each tournament go to Ffindr, an online network where you can find Ultimate Tournaments all over the world! (Unfortunately North America still has to jump of the Ffindr bandwagon...)
